The logs in the fireplace crackled with ferocity
Illuminated in it's glow
They both waited in meaningful silence
Yet none made a move
Till he took her hand
Clasped her warmth in his slippery palms
And looked into her eyes
Her uncertainty, faltering speech
Yet the unwavering gaze
He couldn't miss
There was so much to say
But words failed
Except for the tears
That blurred their vision
Cascading from their heart
Soaking their flesh
They kept gazing
Till the cinders of the eyes
Till the embers of the furnace
Embalmed their love.
