Youthful Interest

I knew you would come
Sooner or later
I was waiting for you
Unaware of my intention
You knocked my door

I opened, with disarming candor
Taken aback, you treaded cautiously
I erased your reservations
And set you free

You did, with boyish simplicity
I liked what I saw
I smiled what I read
Still a child, I said to myself
And walked away

But then your puppy love
Followed me everywhere
Eager to be indulgent
But I was beyond handling  youthful pursuance

For in the end
I will stay
And you will go away.
