Nothing Left


What has the world done to you, he asked
As he cupped her face in his palms
Tears trickled from his eyes
But she remained calm
Staring beyond his feelings

Please say something, he pleaded
But she was lost in a reverie
Somewhere where they both had prevailed
The past and it's impressions
When she believed in 'till death do us apart'...

Was it the touch of destiny
That lead to their estrangement
Nothing made sense
For her life now,
Was in the brothel

When he entered the room
To avail her services
Dumbfounded, both froze to the circumstance
Silence in the air
Turmoil in the heart
Words were missing
But breath was echoing

He came closer
And said 'I had never abandoned you'
I came back
But you were already gone

She didn't hold any grudges
Rather she didn't have anything left
She whispered
'The service charges for one hour will be..."
