Soulless strangers

Pain, pain and pain
Is all that I have gained
Slicing my heart and ripping me apart
A pain so profound
Hauntingly clinging till date.

As I tenderly finger the memories of our seven years,
I was lost under your shadow
Expecting me to obey your unquestionable authority
I questioned our love with your distorted psyche.

Seething in cauldrons of emotions,
I looked for answers convalescing alone.

Driven to the limits of endurance
When I decided to withdraw,
You resurfaced begging for forgiveness

I kept sailing through, in your extended semester of infidelities
Till the day came we were separated by your calculative horizons

Moved have you not just by matrimony
But by measurable power and money.
Your constructed façade of decency is only known to me.
Your trophy half is just your treasured acquisition,
All that you craved is deviation

Sometimes I wonder if your love for me was ever true
Or I was just a concentrated pleasure
Coursed have we seven births in the enriching vagaries
But now, just soulless strangers.
